With eating out getting costlier from April’13 due to the increase in tax on all air conditioned restaurants, here’s a list of places which won’t get affected by this hit. These places will still feed you well on your “tight on money” days!

Prakash
Prakash

Prakash in Dadar has been serving up hot crisp sabudana wadas for many years to its loyal customers. Quick service, easy on the pocket and leaves your tummy happy and satisfied. Head here to enjoy curry pulao, hot wadas, missal and wash all of this down with sweet piyush.

Crystal is a must visit if you are a fan of simple but finger licking home fare. You must try their rajma chawal, dal makhni and kheer.

Ram Ashraya

Ramasshray, based in the mini South India of Mumbai, or Matunga, is always crowded with people waiting to relish their super soft idlis, delicious chutney, ‘no sugar’ sambar, buttermilk served up in tiny milk bottles and melt in the mouth upma. The sheera puri, upma, mysore onion uttapa and buttermilk are a must try here.

Shree Sunders mahabhog and Mani’s Lunch Home are both near Ruia college in Matunga east. They serve a great VFM vegetarian meal during lunch hours which consists of 2 vegetable dishes, rasam, rice, chapattis, curd, sweet dish, sambar and buttermilk.

Ideal Corner
Ideal Corner

Ideal Corner in Fort dishes out Parsi cuisine which does not hit the pocket unlike Britannia. They have a daily menu, so do check their menu online before heading there or else you’ll be disappointed to not find patra ni macchi or dhansak. We recommend you try their mutton cutlet, old school chocolate mousse, raspberry soda, Sali chicken with roti and dhansak.

Jai Hind Lunch Home at Pali naka, Bandra is the place to go to if you want to binge on amazing seafood. Their stuffed bombil, prawn curry, chicken sukka and neer dosas are a must try.

Chaitanya in Dadar is another option to satisfy your seafood cravings. They have chicken and fish meal combo options which are a great meal choice.

So don’t be upset. There are many more places that will continue to serve up scrumptious food without the additional tax hanging over you. Don’t forget to share your reviews with us at [email protected]!
