When someone mentions Dharavi, the first thing that comes to mind is the slum and second thing is leather goods. Dharavi also has its arty side. And if you wish to own piece of art from Dharavi, you must visit this exhibition at False Ceiling in Bandra. Dharavi Art Room Cultural organization Bombay Underground and NGO called Reality Gives have been holding art classes for people in Dharavi; kids and grownups alike since 2009. Now these artworks will be up for sale in False Ceiling at Bandra. It will include photographs and paintings made by kids and residents of Dharavi. These pictures are a colourful representation of their daily lives and chores. Prices range from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000. About False Ceiling False Ceiling s an art gallery in Bandra which houses many art exhibitions, shows, designs, art gatherings and auctions. Along with that they also conduct art camps and art stays at Kamshet, near Pune. They have an artists’ residency where artists can work freely. False Ceiling also organized the art project called Bandradesh, dedicated to Shivraj Santhakumar, also known as Professor Postman, WETHEPPL member, storyteller, image-maker, disco dancer, poet, craftsman and artist.
