Festive season is the best time to lay your hands on some fresh ethnic apparel and jewellery pieces. Of the many new collections launched around Diwali, the recent ones at Melange caught my eye. Two reasons, the subtle, earthy colours and the beautiful marriage of textures. Melange recently unveiled two new collections, 'Myoho' by Kiran and Meghana, presented an eclectic Indian-wear collection and Maria Khan (a Pakistani designer from Hongkong) launched her semi precious jewellery for the first time in Mumbai. The  semi-formal collection by Kiran & Meghna of  Myoho incudes salmon pinks, terra cotta reds and electric blues. The use of interesting textures with a touch of gold on chiffons and chanderi silks, adds just the right amount of glamour I like for a casual festive evening out.   In accessories, Maria Khan’s designs have a  earthy yet elegant appeal. She derives her inspiration for this collection from the tribals of Sapa, Vietnam. In addition to the Sapa tribals, Maria has included influences from the Fakirs of India and Pakistan, through the semi precious stones used in her creations. Here are our top five favourite pieces from from the collection and the designers:
