“Let he who doesn’t like a good deal cast the first stone on me!” I scream hoarse for a good three weeks at the start of every New Year when the January sales convert us all into manic shoppers ready to do unmentionable things for that killer deal. And I am unabashedly shameless when it comes to falling for deals… more so when they involve food. And this year’s been no different. The frenzy, it seems, has only magnified to include all sorts of fabulously yummy options for us to sink our teeth into. So, in no particular order, is my round up of what I think are the cream of the crop—pun so very much intended!!
Ribtastic times are here @ T.G.I. Friday’s
If you, like me, can’t resist the lure of a rack… err, I mean a rack of ribs, then the Holy Grail for all things ribtastic has just got to be T.G.I. Friday’s. As the purveyors of ribs that are dry-rubbed with special spices and slow cooked until fall-off-the-bone tender, these guys sure have it going. But they’ve taken it one notch higher this month by offering ribs that are basted in one of their three new custom BBQ sauces—Cherry Chipotle, BBQ Texas, and Southern. Then served with crispy Onion Rings, Fries, and tangy Apple Coleslaw, the ribs are best chased with T.G.I. Friday’s signature Ultimate Mojito that is available at Rs. 99 only.

Unlimited Tapas and Sangria @ Polpo Café and Bar
Go Tapas hopping without even leaving the bar. Yes, the great Spanish pastime of tapas hopping can now be enjoyed right here in aamchi Mumbai all thanks to Polpo Café and Bar and their unbelievably amazing Tapas and Sangria deal that has had me in hyperbolic hysteria ever since I chanced upon it! Available from 12pm to 8pm everyday, the Rs. 899 plus taxes per head deal offers you a choice of four vegetarian and four non-vegetarian tapas that include exotic yummies that go by the names like Patatas Bravas con Queso Fundido (pan fried potatoes, served in a spicy tomato sauce and melted cheese), Pimientos Rellenos (stuffed bell peppers with cheese, served with cilantro salsa), Brocheta de Pollo (grilled skewers of marinated chicken with romesco sauce) and Alitas de Pollo (Cajun marinated chicken wings) to name a few. The cherry on the cake (or should I say cherry in the glass!) is the sublime fruit-laden Octopus Bite Sangria that is a happy orgy of house red wine, peaches, apples, oranges, sugar and cinnamon.

Choco Mint Magic @ Gelato Italiano
They call their Choco Mint Magic the best way to ‘kick-start your New Year’ and I couldn’t agree more. This new flavour—that is like a gelato version of After Eight chocolates—from Gelato Italiano is a mélange of classic ingredients like chocolate, mint and crema, which come together to give you a magical experience. Trust me, I should know!
Available at all Gelato Italiano outlets across Mumbai
