In Part 2 of our Great Lunch Deals series we bring you some of the most drool worthy and pocket friendly lunch options from South Bombay. So that the next time you want to step out of that stuffy office for quick lunch, you’ll know where to go.

Busaba – Colaba and Lower Parel
Busaba is one of Mumbai’s most beloved Pan Asian restaurants. Both their branches are located the midst of corporate offices and keeping this in mind, they have designed some very sweet lunch deals. If you’re in the mood to binge, opt for their all-you-can-eat buffet, priced at Rs.600, taxes included. The generous spread includes sushi, satay, a couple of starters, curries, stir fries, rice, noodles and dessert. What’s great is that the buffet menu changes every day of the week! Visit their website for a complete breakdown of the buffet menu.

Or if you want something light (and even cheaper) opt for their corporate box. You can choose from 4 different options on all 5 weekdays. Each box includes one starter and one main served with a portion of rice and noodles. To me, that’s just the right amount of food for a weekday lunch! Priced at a very modest Rs.200 including taxes!

Vinoteca by Sula – Worli
The kind folk at Vinoteca understand that there are some of us who need a glass of wine to make it through a stressful day at work. While I am not advocating drinking while you work, I don’t think it’s a bad idea to have a glass of wine with lunch every once in a while. Their Menu Al Dia or menu of the day, served along with a glass of wine costs just Rs.500 (vegetarian) or Rs.550 (non-vegetarian). The meal includes light bites, referred to as pintxos and tapas in Spanish, which are followed by dessert. Just the kind of stuff you’d want with a glass of vino!

Smoke House Deli – Lower Parel
Technically this isn’t a lunch special, because you can order it any time of the day. But I think a lot of you would love to know about Smoke House Deli’s lovely little combo or ‘Soup and half a sandwich’. Don’t be fooled, even half the sandwich is quite filling, especially when eaten along with a big bowl of steaming soup. Depending on the combination you choose, your mini-meal will work out to somewhere between Rs.400 – Rs.600 + taxes. Some of the options are quite interesting, like the Seafood Broth with Wasabi, Soup of a couple of mushrooms (a hot favourite) and the Tuna and Sesame Sandwich.

The Irish House – Kala Ghoda
Irish house is the beer guzzlers what Vinoteca is to the wine snobs, at least where their lunch special is concerned. Here you can have a set lunch for Rs.349 + taxes, and add a pint of beer to that with another Rs.99. The meal includes a salad of the day, an appetizer of your choice, one main dish of your choice and a dessert. For appetizers you can choose between a mixed platter or a plate of cheesy nachos. For main course, you can choose between a couple of pastas, grilled chicken, home-made chicken pie and other filling options!

Pizza Express – Colaba
Mumbai celebrated in a big way when international pizza brand Pizza Expressed opened in Mumbai. They now have three branches, at Colaba, B.K.C and Andheri. Their pizzas are definitely more expensive than other chains, but the quality of ingredients and the pizzas themselves are superior. Most patrons feel like the price difference is more than justified. Their lunch special is affordable though, available Mon – Thu, and priced at Rs.495 + taxes. For this you get half a pizza, a salad and soft drink/fruit juice of your choice. There are just 4 pizzas to choose from and 2 salads, which would save a lot of time on decision making. If you aren’t satisfied with just the pizza and salad, add a starter for an additional Rs.150 or a dessert for an additional Rs.225. *This lunch combo is available at all locations.

Pizza by the Bay – Marine Drive
I still insist on calling this place Pizzeria, just like I insist of referring to this city as Bombay. This age-old culinary institution is one of the most iconic eateries on the Queen’s necklace. There’s something very romantic and old school about it, even after they renovated and white washed the place. Their weekday buffet is priced at Rs.670 + taxes, for which you can eat your fill of soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts. Funnily, the buffest doesn’t include any pizza, but all their food is tried-n-tested, so you can’t really go wrong. This lunch deal is the most expensive one I’ve listed, mostly because I know I’d pay that price just to be able to sit by the large glass façade and watch the sea. Wouldn’t you?

Happy lunching!

As soon as you enter Inox, Nariman point – on the left is a place called Paninaro. Definitely the best ‘quick office lunch’ I’ve had in Mumbai in a long time.
