You know what I love about Mumbai? The fact that you can never know this city completely! There are places to discover, interesting people to meet, and new things to do, possibly everywhere you go. All said and done, the city never ceases to surprise you.
And this time, Mumbai surprised me in an auto rickshaw. Meet the King of Bandra – Sandeep Bacche, and his wonder rickshaw. Don’t confuse Sandeep Bacche for an ordinary rickshaw driver. Friendly, energetic and animated, Sandeep turned my drab auto rickshaw ride into a joyride.
Well-cushioned seats, LCD screen, vibrant interiors, newspaper stand and more in a rickshaw – I was sold right from the start. Step into Sandeep’s swanky rickshaw and he plugs his pen drive (full of hilarious Govinda and Salman Khan movies) to the LCD, just to keep you entertained.
STD PCO Mobile Charging Available
Running low on battery or forgot your charger at home? Fret not, because Sandeep’s here to the rescue. Tucked away in a little pouch, Sandeep keeps almost all commonly available phone chargers for situations like these. And that’s not all! Our good samaritan here also has an STD PCO inside his rickshaw, just in case you’ve forgotten your phone back at home. And all calls at just Re 1 per min all over India!
News And Stock Updates Anyone?
Sandeep has infused a number of well-thought amenities in a tiny rickshaw. His love for technology and innovation reflects in his auto. Sandeep starts his day by diligently writing the gold and silver rates, exchange rates, and even stock market and weather updates in his rickshaw. The newspaper stand in his rickshaw is stacked with the daily newspapers and magazines. You’ll also find a first aid kit, tissue papers, a water bottle and even a fire extinguisher, just in case of an emergency. Not to mention, all of these facilities are offered at no extra charges! What’s not to love?
King Of Hearts
During my ride, I discovered that our King of Bandra also has a heart of a king. From getting chocolates and biscuits for the residents of an old age home to arranging free medicines and books for the under privileged, Sandeep tries his best to help the needy. He offers discounted fare to the visually challenged, differently abled and even newly married. Rushing to the hospital? Sandeep won’t charge you a dime for the ride.
Word-of-mouth publicity has made this philanthropic rickshaw driver, quite popular in Mumbai. So much so that he even has a Facebook profile where you can contact him or reach him directly on 9594236040. So next time you’re in Bandra and spot a rickshaw with the number MH 02 SA3783, do give Sandeep a shout out! I’m certain you’ll have something to add to the list of things I loved in King of Bandra’s rickshaw.
