And leading this trend are the restaurants of Mumbai that have gone beyond the primary sit down dining experiences. They are now looking beyond food to indulge their patrons through various fun and engaging acts that are sure to get them hooked. So the next time you walk into one of your favorite restaurants, don’t be surprised to see your favorite band performing there or a stand up comedian getting people to fall of their chairs.

Chez Moi: Head to this popular Andheri joint to spark up your Thursday evenings. With Boiler Bar Thursdays, the venue doubles up as a foot thumping haven for electronica, dubstep, down tempo, drum & bass and glitch hop followers. Chez Moi opened its doors to live gigs with the ‘One Night Only’ acts featuring Anklur Tewari, Sid Coutto, Nikhil D’Souza and the likes at their Bandra outpost. Their weekly gigs got bigger and better with the larger space at Oshiwara. With Boiler Bar Thursdays, they have hosted Sky Rabbit vocalist Raxit Tewari, Sickflip aka Sarvesh Srivastava, Big City Harmonics amongst others. Coupled with Chez Moi’s mouth watering dishes, Boiler Bar Thursdays is a sure way of getting into an early weekend mode!

Kino 108: Take a midweek break with Bomb Thursdays at Kino 108. ennui.BOMB, the artist management and music event company and the popular restrobar have joined hands to bring live music to the suburbs and feature indie bands from all over the country. A recent initiative which started just a few months ago, Bomb Thursdays is growing in popularity and the idea is it accommodate as many forms of music as possible. Dischordian, Tough on Tobacco, Tint, Shakey Rays, Punk on Toast, Split are some of the bands that have rocked the house at Bomb Thursdays. Keep your spirits high with the ingenious cocktails at Kino 108, a perfect companion fot the awesome music.

Cheval: This trendy South Mumbai watering hole is an apt place to unwind with a dose of wild gigs every Wednesday night. Initiated in January this year, the Chevalier Sessions were launched under the Cheval Art Club. They opened with Something Relevant and have had artists including Akshai Sarin, Ankur & Sidd, Jonqui & Kumar, Leon de Souza and many others perform to a packed house. As you enjoy the music, do indulge yourself in their sumptuous European menu and the mouth-watering assortment of desserts.

The Little Door: An incredible musical encounter awaits you at this lively resto-pub which is becoming increasingly popular on the live gig scene. With their latest offering, Acoustic Tuesdays, TLD turns into an avenue for singer-songwriters, acoustic outfits and bands. It is programmed by Dream Makers Entertainment, an artist management, music and record company. Some of the singers & songwriters and bands featured in the past include Reuel Benedict, Alisha Pais, Siddharth Basrur, Tritha Electric, Blek and the list goes on. The informal ambiance, yummy food and gigs at this place make it the perfect combo for a memorable evening out.

Out Of The Blue: Living up to their tagline of ‘Something’s Always Happening’, Out of the Blue kick-started a fresh season of gigs sometime last year. The Powai outpost of the brand has witnessed artists like Dan Cook, Mihir Joshi and bands like Fifth Octave, Spud in Box, Overdrive Trio etc. Out of the Blue also collaborated with PlayMusician to provide a platform where upcoming and established artists could showcase their work. A keen supporter of various forms of art be it music, paintings or anything remotely interesting in addition to its finger licking food, makes this place an all time favorite.
