I always take my own sweet time selecting a spa/salon for myself because if I’m going to spend some money on pampering myself, it better be the best damn thing it can buy. The thing with spas is that they can be very erratic in their service – depending on who is attending to you. Consistency, though, is always a nice surprise and I’d like to know I’m going to get a good service every time I visit. Based on research from friends, family etc., I’m continuing my generous streak of making lists of my favourite things, and *tadaaa* here’s a list of the most popular spas in Mumbai-

Myrah The Spa: A personalized service and attention to detail make this a great alternative to the hotel spas. Having won the Best Day Spa at the Vogue Beauty Awards last year, they are known for their special pregnancy packages. Treatments include massage therapies, body polishes and wraps. Try their customized 75 minute Royal Aroma for a gentle and smooth massage for Rs.  3000. Call 9820040002 to make an appointment.

Sohum Spa
Sohum Spa

Sohum Spa and Wellness Sanctuary: Having won the title of Best Day Spa at the AsiaSpa Indian Awards in 2009, it is generally known as the best spa outside a hotel. The staff at Sohum are all trained in their in-house academy, which takes care of giving a good service each time. The signature massage costs Rs. 3,600 and integrates and oil massage and Thai acupressure techniques which work very well on easing muscular knots in your body. Call 6561 8225/26 to book.

Aura Thai Spa: A very good reason for this spa being on this list is the fact that the therapists at Aura Thai Spa are Thai nationals, trained and certified by the Thai Ministry of Health and Education. They specialize in traditional dry massages and the 90-minute full body massage is available for Rs. 2800. Call 65204444 for an appointment at their Bandra Pali Hill outlet.

Four Seasons Spa
Four Seasons Spa

The Four Seasons Hotel Spa: This extremely popular spa has 8 treatment rooms (including one couples suite and a VIP suite), each of which is named after a yogic posture. More heavy on the pocket than others on this list and the only one that is in a hotel, they are known for their Ayurvedic massages. A 60 minute deep muscle massage will cost you Rs. 4250. You can make an appointment by calling 24818005.

Sukho Thai: Although they market themselves as a foot spa, this is the most reasonable yet good spa service in Mumbai, in my opinion. Comfortable reclining massage chairs and a fruit plate at the end of the massage are all a part of the experience. Best part about this spa is getting multiple therapists attending to you at the same time when you go in for the Foot Massage with Back, Shoulder and Head, which will set you back Rs. 2190 for 60 minutes. Book your spa appointment on 9821 00 88 77.
