Most of the times, massage parlours are mistaken to be spas. No, it is not the patrons who are at fault here but the one-too-many ‘spas’ that have sprung up indiscriminately across the city. A spa experience has more to it than relieving the body of its stress; it has to do with alleviating the mind of its troubled thoughts and tensions. It is about calming and rejuvenating the entire system – body, mind and soul.

A good spa has all the fixtures of a massage parlour and in addition it goes on to offer an immaculate ambiance and quality services that are potent enough to help attain urban nirvana!

Rewa Escape Spa
Rewa Escape prides itself on being ‘a place that drowns out the noise of city life, lets you have a private dialogue with nature and allows you to listen to your own thoughts’. Though the spa is tiny – four pedicure stations, one manicure station, one massage room – it more than makes up for the lack of space with the view. Overlooking the Arabian sea, this spa offers a multitude of therapies for the body, feet and face. The best time to visit this spa is during sunset. The relaxed vibe and indulgent services will surely let you listen to your thoughts (or block them out for a while for good).

Inner Temple
Located in an unassuming fifth floor apartment studio, Inner Temple is all about personal attention and impeccable service. The spa is owned and run by Mandira Sharma, a yoga instructor and offers a total of seven treatments. The linen and furniture are a calm white, the masseurs/masseuses are masters of their art and the focus is on making you feel better. A 45 minutes session often runs into an hour and once done, you will feel re-energised enough to battle all your worries head-on.

Rudra Spa & Salon
Rudra Spa & Salon manages to walk the tight-rope between not being an overtly loud salon (as is the case so often) and being a tranquil spa. Promising ‘Soulitude With Senses’ Rudra Spa & Salon hits the nail on the head with the extensive and detailed massages that it offers. The incense sticks, the chants, the wooden interiors will have a calming effect on your mind just as the nibble fingers and rightly applied pressure of the palms will relax and invigorate your body.

Sometimes I wish I was Shandler – quirky like Sheldon and sarcastic + funny like Chandler. But then, I am me. The girl who needs her life to be a collage of small joys, brain-tickling conversations and as impulsive as it is cautious.
