October was Breast Cancer Awareness month and cities the world over demonstrated solidarity by lighting up their most famous landmarks in pink. While it was a visual spectacle that got much attention, it also helped garner interest in this disease which seems to be spreading at an alarming rate. In India, Breast Cancer India shares startling statistics. Breast cancer accounts for about 25% to 33% of all cancers in women in our country. And sadly, over 50% breast cancer patients in India are detected when they are in stages 3 and 4, which greatly impacts the survival rate.

To further the cause of Breast Cancer Awareness in the country, Maximus Events is organizing the Pinkathon International Women’s Run across 10 cities in India during 2012 and 2014. The kick off race will be held in Mumbai on Sunday, 16th December 2012. The race will have 3 categories namely, 10 kms, 5 kms and 3 kms run. The registration for all categories is open and the fees is Rs 500 common to all categories.

The organisation supports women with awareness and treatment during breast, cervical and ovarian cancer.
