Sorriso Gourmet Kitchen: BKC is the new destination to experiment with various global cuisines as several restaurant chains have set up shop at this booming commercial hub. A new place that is creating waves in the vicinity is Sorriso – The Gourmet Kitchen which offers a range of Italian, Mexican and Continental fare. In Italian, ‘Sorriso’ literally means smile and this joint believes in bringing smiles everywhere with their scrumptious food. Dig into the pastas (they have over 10 varieties) or risottos that are cooked to perfection or experiment with the burritos and quesadillas filled with goodness. If you are looking at something heavier opt for a bakedish (Lasagne Bolognese, Shepherd’s Pie or the veg Bake Dish) or one of the sumptuous mains including Thai curries, veg Balinese curry, chicken stroganoff, Mediterranean lamb and much more. Health freaks can try the soups, the pan fired mushroom & burnt garlic soup sounds delicious, or choose from an exotic variety of salads. They also have a fantastic variety of sandwiches with delectable fillings ranging from Thai basil and chilli paneer, Sorriso’s cream cheese, grilled lemon & coriander chicken, Sorriso’s roast beef and the list goes on. With such an appetizing menu, you really are spoilt for choice. They don’t have a dine-in option and largely focus on deliveries starting from Bandra east to Santacruz east where they deliver even single orders, a large chunk of them coming from BKC’s offices. However they are open to bigger orders (Rs.500-700+) in other areas including Mahim, Lower Parel, Bhakti Park and so on. They also take orders for outdoor catering. So the next time you are planning a party you could treat your guests to some mouth-watering multi-cuisine delights from Sorriso. The prices are completely affordable and an order for two ranges between Rs.350 – 400. And yes, don’t forget to ask for the dessert of the day while placing your order!

Greko: If you’re bored of the regularly available cuisines, it’s time to try something new. And Greko comes as a saving grace for just that. Adding to the list of eateries that Carter Road is brimming with, Greko takes you on a culinary journey through Greece with a variety of Greek staples to choose from. You can pick from a range of gyros (roasted meat on a vertical spit) and souvlakis (small pieces of meat or vegetable grilled on a skewer). Dig in to the traditional chicken gyro or relish the sinful Athenian which comes with grilled chicken, Greek yoghurt, fries, lettuce and more in warm pita bread. Vegetarians need not worry as you can try  the veg souvlaki  or pitaroudia which is a combination of falafel, lettuce, cabbage, tomato, onion, homemade tahini (paste of ground sesame seeds) and tzatziki (a Greek sauce made with yoghurt and other fresh ingredients). If gastronomic indulgence is what you’re looking at, then the platters are what you should go with. The moussaka, baked layers of potato followed by delicately seasoned mince and eggplant topped with cheese, will have you drooling till much after the meal is over. Greko also has gyro and souvlaki platters and a mezze platter for vegetarians. The assortment of salads is good and they have a variety of sides, the Greek fries with feta cheese being a delicious try. The portions are decent and in proportion with the price. A meal for two ranges between Rs.500-700. Though Greko has no seating options nor does it deliver, it makes for a great place to grab a wholesome bite. All they need to do is add some yummy desserts and the places around will be in for some stiff competition.

Writing is a passion I discovered a little late. But better late than never. When not penning my thoughts, you'll find me sniffing around for good food - trying out every new restaurant in town is a hobby. I swear by Hindi films and when doing nothing of the above you'll find me troubling my pet pooch.
