The idea of having a long vacation is for kids is to have fun and learn something which they miss during their school days. Why not introduce them to our rich history and heritage this summer? Let the educators at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya take them through the pages of history with various workshops.

About Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalay
City’s largest museum, this is a grade I Heritage Building in Mumbai. It has been awarded first place for Heritage Building Maintenance by the Indian Heritage Society. The main gallery gives an overview of the museum’s collection showcasing representative collection from various sections of the museum like Archeology, Indian Miniature Painting, Indian Decorative Arts as well as Chinese and Japanese collection. The aim of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya is to create awareness about our ancient heritage. Thus, in addition to permanent artifacts, the museum regularly organizes temporary exhibitions, lectures and workshops on various topics.

About Leave No Stone Unturned
Leave No Stone Unturned is a series of workshop for children between 6 to 14 years. It is based on newly recognized Indian sculpture gallery at the museum. Following are the details of workshops:

  • Art on the Rocks is about understanding sculptures and sculpture making workshop for age group of 10 to 14 years on 10th May, Friday.
  • Puppet Puranas is a puppet-making workshop for age group 8 to 14 years on 11th May, Saturday.
  • The Secrets of the Saurapitha will explore a 12th century solar dial and its relation to Astronomy, Religion & Myths. Its for the group of 8 to 12 years on 15th May, Wednesday. Arvind Paranjape from Nehru Planetarium will conduct the workshop and guide you in making your own astronomical device.
  • Vahana- The Vehicles of the Gods is a workshop for 6 to 10 years age group which will involve understanding animals in sculptures. It will be conducted on 22nd May, Wednesday.
  • Mudras will talk about the language of the hands and understanding Mudras and Postures through sculptures. Its for the 7 to 14 age group and will be conducted on 24th May, Saturday.
