You can spend the first weekend of the New Year getting adventurous! Jumpstart India is organising rappelling and rock-climbing workshops at Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The workshop will start early morning and last for 5-6 hours. You will be trained and given basic instructions by certified professionals and are expected to carry your own water/snacks/lunch for the day.

Night Parasailing at H2O
Night Parasailing at H2O

H20 Water Sports, Chowpatty is now offering Night Parasailing services. You will be taken to sea on a winch boat from the H2O Marina from where you will then take off up in the air. The night para sail will last for 3-4 minutes and allow you to take in the sights and scenes of Mumbai by night. You will not, however, be dipped into the sea waters making this para sail a dry one.

The theatre scene is rather active this weekend. You can choose between Nandita Das’ Between The Lines that explores the relationship between a lawyer couple who find themselves on opposite sides in an attempted murder case or Rahul Da Cunha’s The Bureaucrat which is a modern-day satire on present day India or get in touch with your philosophical side and watch Mitch Albom’s New York Bestseller on stage, Tuesdays With Morrie.

The Vagina Monologues
The Vagina Monologues

Alternatively, you can catch a special one-time screening of The Vagina Monologues (in Hindi) with a special focus on crime against women. The show will include special appearances by Chitrangda Singh, Suchitra Pillai and Manasi Scott.  Playwright and anti-violence activist Eve Ensler will launch a new global movement called 1 Billion Rising to bring in focus violence against women.
