Last weekend, I got a broadcast on my Blackberry. ‘A BOWhemian Garage Sale for Paws in need’ by WFA (World for All). It was too late to post about it then, but I decided to share the story of WFA or World For All, soon.

For all those who do not happen to know about World For All, they are a one of a kind NGO, which helps stray animals in distress, rescues them, take care of them & make sure they find a warm and loving home. A very brave and challenging task, yes! How many dogs and cats are run over by cars every day? How many animals are carelessly & brutally beaten up for no reason whatsoever? To rescue these innocent souls & to give them a better life that they deserve, we have ‘World for All’ in Mumbai.

World For All was founded back in 2009 by Ruchi Nadkarni & Taronish Bulsara. The main motive behind starting this was for the betterment and the welfare of animals, mainly strays. Ever since their founding, they have become the leading NGO for the welfare of stray animals. The members of the NGO face a daily task of rescuing helpless, injured or abused animals from all over the city. If required, they will sterilize the animal, look after it till it heals (either by the members themselves or by giving the animal to foster homes). The NGO manages to save its costs by networking for foster homes.

Being an NGO, they do NOT charge you for any animal you adopt through them, but to keep such a large organisation afloat, they do need a certain amount of capital now, don’t they? Where do they generate the revenue? Every now & then they host events, where you can either purchase things donated by people (like the BOWhemian Garage Sale) or you can buy their Merchandise to support the NGO. They accept donations too (cash or kind).

Every year, World for All hosts an ‘Adoptathon’, where they have a variety of animals (from dogs to cats to rabbits to hamsters) all up for adoption. All you got to do is select the animal you would like to adopt, register yourself & give all of your love to it. It just does not end at the Adoptathon. After every Adoptathon, they host an ‘Adoptathon Hangover’ and once again, you can go and adopt a pup or kitten. World For All hosted 2 Kitten Adoption Camps this year and have successfully provided loving homes for lots of kittens.

Do note down that World For All will be hosting an Adoptathon for this year in November. This is one event no animal lover would like to  miss. Even if you cannot adopt an animal, you can always go there and give all of your love to these little souls, even if its for only 10 minutes. For an Adoptathon, they always require volunteers. Teenagers to adults, everyone is welcome to volunteer. As Owen Wilson once said, “An Animal doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, clever or dumb. Give him your heart and he’ll give you his. How many people can make you feel that extraordinary?”
